7th Grade Fund

This fund has been established to create a sense of future and opportunity Owsley County youth. All 7th grade students are to participate. Spending the 7th grade funds is a decision that the stuends, acting upon the advice of teachers, business people, parents, and etc. make. If the students wnat to risk all funds in one venture, they may. If they want to put aside a certain amount of safe mone, they may. This decision is for the students to make and is a part of the learning process.
 
Upon graduation from Owsley County High School, the 7th grade fund will be divided equally amonth the students according the semesters in attendance at Owsley County High School. If a student becomes ill or fails, causing he/she not to graduate with the original class, then the share that he/she would have received is retained to be distrbuted with the class that he/she graduates with. If the studnet does not graduate by the time he/she is 21 years old, then the money will be used at the discretion of the Board. Students may receive a maximum of 12 semester shares.
 
Requirements are:
Graduation from Owsley County High,
A minimum of 2 semesters attendance at OCHS,
A minimum enrollment of 150 days during the senior year.
 
The requirements for minimum and maximum semesters in attendance may be reviewed periodically by the Board of Directors and changes made if needed. The Board will review and reach a consensus in dealing with extraordinary cases which might arise.
