Scholarships
Scholarships will be promoted in the local secondary school through the guidance
office and through the local media. Application forms will be available to all graduating seniors. Volunteer readers
will evaluate and rate each aplicant's application. From a rank-ordered list generated by the volunteer readers, the
Owsley County Fund for Excellence Board of Directors will select the recipients and the amounts of the awards. Scholarship
funds will be given outright to the qualifying senior. However, a contract stating the studen'ts intention of seeking
post secondary education will be necessary. Scholarships may be given in varying amounts and in two payments to be based
upon the successful completion (maintaining a 2.0 grade average) of a semester's work. |

| If, at any time, the child or relative of a member of the Fund for Excellence Board should apply for a scholarship
or other award that member will not participate in the selection process. The definition of relative will be the same
as the definition used by the Kentucky Education reform Act with the exception of adding nephew and niece to the other
named relationships. The Fund for Excellence will not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, religion, creed,
socioeconomic background, etc. |
